Midsommer mid day in-house fights, followed by costumed pot luck feasting and merriment in the evening!

Four hour seminar on 19th century Military Saber. We will cover basics including footwork, stance, posture, weapon grip and movement. Then will proceed with learning cuts, guards, solo and partner drills. We will also introduce participants to Polish saber and use of bayonet and off hand weapons.

This will be a physically intensive class, particularly for shoulders, elbows and forearms. Please bring appropriate physical aids if you use them. (elbow/ wrist braces, etc). There will be a 45 minute lunch break.

Fencing helmets, and sabers will be provided. Ages 13 and up (exceptions will be made for younger students based on maturity level)

The Sword School will be offering lessons in Light Saber/ Dark Saber!
Jedi, Sith, or somewhere in between come join us in downtown Midland at Centennial Park for our yearly lightsaber battle! Dress up in your favorite Sci-Fi outfit and bring your lightsaber for duels and battle games! All ages are welcome.

Knife fighting and self defense class designed and taught by women for women.

The Defensive Blade is a knife self defense developed with the goal of surviving and escaping a violent attacker who is bigger and stronger. There are many knife systems that do this but we will also cover the psychological and emotional attacks involved, because in most cases it isn’t a stranger attacking you, it is someone known.

In this class we discuss the attacker/ victim psychology, how body language can betray intent, using the blade, footwork, and the environment to maintain distance, how to use and hold the blade, how to keep from being disarmed, and to what extent you are legally entitled to protect yourself.

All training equipment will be provided. Participants should wear full length workout pants or tights, and a long sleeve or rash guard shirt. Jewelry such as rings, bracelets, long necklaces, long earrings or other body piercings that risk getting tangled or caught, should not be worn.

Class fee is $30 per person. Join is for Swordfight! Kid's ages 7 to 10-ish learn sword and shield, teamwork, and tactics in medieval themed battle games, agility courses, and sword drills.

All equipment is provided, just bring a bottle or flask for water. $25 Participation fee per child. First timers please come 10 - 15 minutes early for sign up and orientation.

A Valentine's Day date to remember, Sweetheart Sword Fight is a 2 hour class where couples not only learn the basics of Medieval long sword combat but will also choreograph their own romantic duel to the death... or a kiss?

Admission is $50 per couple and all equipment is provided. We do ask that if you are new to The Sword School, to come 15 minutes early for registration.

Learn Medieval and Renaissance techniques for spear and quarter staff. Based on treatises and manuals of the time, we will go over the historical context and use of the weapon followed by drills and concluding with slow play.
This workshop will be instructed by Skye Hilton (head instructor for the Sword School, Forged in Fire: KoD, Globe Trotting Swordswoman).

$40 Workshop Fee, Equipment Will Be Provided

Attendance for participants and spectators is free.

Little Heartbreaker’s Tournament begins at 11 am followed by a break.
Heartbreaker’s Long Sword begins at 1 pm.
